Speed is essential. A slow-loading website can turn potential clients away before they even see your content. At Digi2, we often encounter businesses struggling with sluggish performance, especially those using complex platforms like WordPress for what’s essentially a simple landing page.
This was the case for our client, NewGlasses.pl. Originally built on WordPress, the single-page website was slow and unresponsive, despite being straightforward in design and function.
Below, we’ll walk you through our approach to speeding up this landing page, explaining why we chose Webflow for this migration and how the project evolved.
Initial Challenges with WordPress
NewGlasses.pl was initially developed on WordPress, which is known for its flexibility and robust feature set. However, WordPress comes with its own limitations when it comes to speed — particularly for simple websites that don’t need the heavy plugins and additional functionalities that WordPress often supports.
While NewGlasses.pl was a single-page website, it took longer than expected to load. The issue wasn’t just WordPress – the hosting environment added another layer of delay. For a streamlined landing page like NewGlasses.pl, we believed a lighter, more efficient platform would offer a better user experience.
Why Webflow?
As a Webflow agency, we focus on crafting high-performance, visually striking websites tailored to run smoothly and efficiently. Webflow is our platform of choice because it combines design flexibility with good speed — unlike WordPress, which can sometimes come with excess bloat that slows sites down.
So, for a single-page website like NewGlasses.pl, Webflow provided the speed and simplicity required to enhance user experience without sacrificing functionality.
Once we suggested the migration to Webflow, the client was on board, and we started the process. If you’re curious about the steps to migrate to Webflow, check out our How to Migrate to Webflow Guide.
The Migration Process
Our migration process at Digi2 was organized and efficient. We have taken the following steps:
- Client Acceptance
We started with the client’s approval to move forward. Once they gave the green light, we were ready to dive into the project. - Preparation of a Style Guide
Since the original website was already online, we began by preparing a comprehensive style guide. This ensured consistency and clarity throughout the design, making the new version of NewGlasses.pl visually cohesive and on-brand. - Homepage Design
With a style guide in place, we developed the initial homepage design in Webflow. This version mirrored the essential elements of the original page but was optimized for speed and performance. - Expansion with Sub-Pages
Initially, NewGlasses.pl was a one-pager, but after discussions with the client, we identified opportunities to enhance the user experience by adding sub-pages. These new pages allowed us to organize content more effectively, making the website more navigable and informative. - A/B Testing and Analytics
One of the great advantages of Webflow is its flexibility in integrating A/B testing, analytics, and marketing automation. After the project was live, we prepared an A/B version of the homepage to help NewGlasses.pl evaluate different design approaches for even better results (but that's a topic for another article ;)).
The Results
Once the final touches were made, we ran performance tests to see the impact of the migration. The results speak for themselves – NewGlasses.pl now boasts an impressive performance score of 99 on PageSpeed Insights, with metrics like:
- First Contentful Paint: 0.6s
- Largest Contentful Paint: 0.7s
- Total Blocking Time: 40ms
- Speed Index: 1.0s
- Cumulative Layout Shift: 0.003
These numbers demonstrate the effectiveness of Webflow for this project, allowing NewGlasses.pl to deliver a fast and smooth experience to every visitor.
Why Webflow Is the Best Choice for Simple Sites?
For straightforward projects like single-page websites or small business landing pages, Webflow offers a clean, efficient solution. Unlike WordPress, which is best suited for larger, content-heavy sites, Webflow cuts down on unnecessary elements, resulting in better performance and a faster user experience.
Migrating to Webflow allowed us to build a tailored solution that’s not only quick and responsive but also scalable for future additions. The client now has access to Digi2’s full suite of services, from advanced data analytics to marketing automation, helping them stay competitive as their needs evolve.
